On 6 December 2023, National Cabinet considered the Final Report of the Independent Review of Health Practitioner Regulatory Settings, led by Ms Robyn Kruk AO.
The Final Report makes 28 recommendations that will improve the applicant experience, expand ‘fast track’ registration pathways, enable better workforce planning, provide greater flexibility while supporting safety and enhance regulator performance and stewardship. First Ministers agreed the Commonwealth will fund and implement, with states and territories, the health-related recommendations from the Review.
The Final Report aligns to, but supersedes, the Interim Report that was endorsed by National Cabinet in April 2023.
The review received 86 submissions during the consultation period. These submissions raised practical issues and provided valuable feedback on proposed recommendations.
